January 2019        Newsletter

Welcome to the the new school year.   We have started off the year with 7 students …but have more on the way during the year.  We have 6 boys and only 1 girl at the moment.  1 x yr 1, 1x year 2, 2 x year 3s,  2 x year 4, 1x year 5.

I have heard that the children all had a great Christmas and holiday with family and friends.  It was great to hear them all sharing their stories this morning.  Bonnar had a video to share of the Orca whale that swam right next to thier boat. AMAZING!

We welcome Dylan Watson who comes to us from Marotiri School. Dylan’s family have moved to Lochinver Station. Dylan is 7 years old and has made great  friends already.

Book Lists

Lorraine and I have completed the book packs for the year. We will purchase the packs and invoice families for them. We have kept the cost down as much as we can. The packs include a text book for each of the following; reading activites, writing, spelling, hand writing, maths and topic as well as pencils, rubbers, glue sticks, tissues, and 2 reams of photocopy paper. Bookbags, pens and extra stationery can be ordered from the office during the year.

Kindness . Manaaki tanga

This is our topic for the term. We are learning how to be good friends and look at how we can show kindness to others.  We will end the term topic with a Great Friends Day ( 5th of April  1pm ) where students can invite someone they care about to school for an afternoon tea.

Music

We will continue with our music lessons with Whaea TeRina on Tuesday mornings.  Whaea will be teaching the whole school the ukelele this term.  She is still available to do private lessons at school for $25 per lesson. ( let me know if you are interested)

HOTDOG and CHIPS

We will be having Hot Dog and Chips on Fridays for $6.  Bring the correct money to school in a named envelope as we do not carry change.

Iron Kidz

This  awesome sporting event is on Sunday the 24th of Feb.   The event is a triathlon or splash n dash for the little kids. .

I have sent home information regarding entering your child.  We usually have a good amount of children entered and win the cash prize for most children from one school entered.
